Found Picures
I was cleaning out my e-mail and found these pictures of us when we were dating. They are taken outside Jacob's old apartment. We created a little routine when we would leave his place. It went like this...
1. Jacob would get the door for me.
2. I would step down one step and wait.
3. Jacob would lock the door.
4. Jacob would then lean in and hug me.
5. We would leave.

Magyar Karácsonyi Buli
The Gasser's (my mission president and his wife) wanted to celebrate the Christmas season with their missionaries. I was pretty excited to go because I have been missing Hungary a lot lately and this would give me a glimpse of those sweet memories I cherish so much.

A few days before the party I stopped by my parents house and my dad gave me my Christmas gift early. Glögg! This is a drink that I had while I was serving in Buda. It is a non alcoholic wine that you mix. It is about half glögg and half sparkling water (regular tap water works too, but it not as good,) and then you serve it warm of chilled. I love it. I gave some to Jacob and he did not like it because of the strong clove taste to it. One of my companions and I laughed at a few missionaries that had never had glögg before because they tried to drink it straight. I thought they were crazy because it is a really strong tasting drink when it is diluted. We taught them the correct way in the end, but it was fun to see them try little shots of it.
This picture is great. In it is my companion Jackie and the Gassers. The Gassers were the hosts of the party and were so wonderful to welcome us into their home. I love all three people here and they have influenced my life so much for the good. The Gassers have been home for 5 1/2 months now and are adjusting well. They have put in a huge requests that all their families are home this year for Christmas since they had to spend 3 years without them. I can't blame them for doing so.
Of course you can't forget Whitney. She is the Gasser's daughter that they took with them on their mission. She is a teenager with a huge testimony. She is now off to college and enjoying every minute of it.
Jackie and I served with Tim while in Buda. Later on, I served with him again in Szeged where we both ended our mission. He was a language guru who taught me a lot about Hungarian. We had some really great times together eating black tie cheesecake and playing stomp. I still remember when I was in Buda and got a package from home. Inside was a box of dots candy. I gave Tim some and he automatically put me on his favorite sister list. The three of us stood around and just chatted about the good times and people we knew.
These are a few of the elders that I served with. All three were in the MTC with me. Drew (on the left) was just a fun guy to be around and always positive. Adam (in the green) is a very patient guy and has that gentle-protective-big-brother feel. Kipp (on the right) is one who I just recently reconnected with on facebook. He is another language nut, and just absorbed the language like a sponge. He was a big motivator.
This a picture of Brandon and me. He just made his relationship official last month with a very cute sweet girl and you can tell that they are both really happy together. We served in Pest together when I was a greenie. I found Brandon very entertaining to be around. Brandon told life how it was with his own little twist. It always made me laugh. Sometimes in the mission I would get so excited to see him at transfers or zone conference just because I needed that little uplift.
This is the picture with Brandon's girlfriend. Isn't she cute? Really I think she is pretty brave because she came to a mission Christmas party and is only the girlfriend. I hope Brandon keeps her around or ups the relationship even more with her. She is really a sweetheart to talk to.
This is a random picture of some of the missionaries in the Gasser home. I was surprised how many missionaries I did not know because they entered the mission after I went home or just before I left the country.
Yet another group picture.
Overall I had a blast at the Gasser's party. It was so fun to see people I knew and talk about the good times. I was also grateful for Jacob to come with me to so he could meet some of the people who influenced my life.

Christmas in Our Apartment
Our tiny basement apartment is all set for the holidays. I have been asked by a few people if I have decorated yet. I tell them yes, so I thought it would be fun to post some pictures up of my decorations like I did my Halloween decorations. Most of these decorations I bought for Jacob and I when we were dating last year. It is a good thing too or we wouldn't have any this year.
This is our welcome sign. It hangs on our front door to our apartment. I always get a good chuckle when I see it.
Our kitchen has some Christmas balls and colored tissue paper in a glass bowl to be our center piece.
Yet another sign. This one hangs off of our bookcase in our living room. I think it is also very funny.
What Christmas would not be complete without a nativity scene? Last year when Jacob and I bought this set; it was completely white and came in kit with paint so we could paint them ourselves. We did just that. Over a few dates we were able to complete the paint and ended up with something that we will look back on in the future. (Kinda cheesy I know, but we had a blast doing it.)
Please don't laugh, but these are our stockings. This was another craft idea we did for another date. The stockings were plain white and we took fabric paint and decorated them.
The stocking holder.
The other stocking holder.
No house is complete without a little mistletoe. A few years ago my best friend gave this to me since I love frogs so much. I haven't seen anything like it since. I use it to decorate with every year. This is not just a mistletoe it is a "misteltoad." Thanks Kati!
This is a newer addition to our Christmas collection. My count down.
The big finale to our decorations is our Christmas tree. I know that it is not very big, but we love our little tree. It is the perfect size for our little place. The tree is decorated with gold ribbon, blue lights, gold bells, navy balls, black balls, and black glitter balls. We think that it is masculine, but with a hint of femininity.
And this is what the tree looks like with the lights on. Still very nice.
What is under our tree? Christmas gifts. Sadly, most the gifts are not for us. Most of the gifts are for our families.
